2018 Reflection

9APA Kaitohutohu

1) What was the first day like? How did you feel?
At first it was scary, coming to high school and trying to make new friends, new classes and new teacher. I also felt kind of uncomfortable because of the new people around me, so I just stuck with my old group of friends.

2) Who spoke to you first? Did you make friends on the first day?
One of my old friends spoke to me first, I also didn't make friends on the first day because I am an awkward and quiet person. I was just trying to see what everyone was like before I went up to talk to them.

3) What have you enjoyed about PHS?

The classes and all the options were pretty cool, also the fun and bad memories with my class and outside of class, I have also made alot of new friends. Also Miss Tupaea being our Kaitohutohu teacher was cool.

4) What could be done better?

Maybe been more social and out of there instead of being quiet and Anti-social. But other than that, I probably would of done great for the first day.

5) What advice would you give to Yr 8's?

Be ready for the year ahead of you, because its alot more different than your last school. Also don't be scared to come here and make new friends, yes it may be scary at first but once you get comfortable then you will be all sorted.

ICT 3D Printing

Tinkercad 3D Printing

We have been working with 3D printing and Tinkercad and making designs that are related to us as in culture and other things.

We are using the site Tinkercad to create our work.

I decided to create a flower cup with a flower in it. Here is my design on Tinkercad

Then I had to make a copy of it and take that copy apart. Putting most of the design at a 90 degree angle and putting it on the Workplane (0.00) Like this.

Then I had to download it on USB and then Mr Tuhoe then prints it with the 3D Printer. My first printed design didn't come out as planned at some of the shapes didn't have good base. (Well now it has a good base)

And here's the result...

So I fixed the problem and put a good Base on it and here's the finished design.

I used hot glue to glue the pieces together and I let it cool down. Then BOOM!

A Flower Cup.

Hauora and Well-being

What is Hauora?

There is Physical Well-being, Mental and Emotional Well-being, Social Well-being, and Spiritual Well-being.

These four categories are all about the mental, physical, social, and spiritual well being of yourself.

Reflection

- What have you learnt while doing this?

I have learnt what the meaning of Hauora and Well-being, I have learnt their meanings and what they all do.

- What did you enjoy about the process?

I enjoyed filling in the questions and making the slides my own.

- What did you find challenging? How did you overcome this challenge?

I found that Mental and Emotional slide was hard to do as I had to think of the different emotions I feel when someone or when i do a certain thing. In the end, I thought of some things and yehhhh

- Information about what you used and how you used it?

Well I used different pictures to decorate my slide, I didn't really go online for Information as I already knew everything.

- What will you do with this new knowledge and where to from here?

Hopefully, I will use this in the future to just look at and to maybe remember the certain things about Hauora.

SOS: The Enviroment

Social Studies~!

Topic: The Environment

I did an inquiry of the Amazon Rain forest, and I chose to do a slides presentation.
We had to answer 2 questions and the third question we make up our own question.

Q1: What are some basic facts about the Amazon Rain forest?

Q2: What are the Main resources found in the Amazon Rain forest?

Q3: What are the dangers that endanger the Amazon Rain forest?

In the end, I was happy with my final copy. The research was somewhat easy to find for some questions, but finding pictures for the slides was a bit hard. I learnt alot of things about the Amazon Rain forest that I didn't know about before so it was pretty interesting to find out who found the Rain forest and how it was named.

Refection on Osmosis.

S.C: I am able to explain the process of osmosis with an example with a picture.

Osmosis is a process by which molecules of a solvent tend pass through a semipermeable membrane from a less concentrated solution into a more concentrated one.

^^ This involves the diffusion of water through a membrane from an area of high concentration to an area with low concentration of water.

WALT: Refection on Plant Cells & Animal Cells

Science

What I learnt this week was the plant cells and animal cells are very different. There are like 3 differences with the two cells. But they are mostly the same.

The interesting and most important part of my study was learning what is inside of those cells! Like what nucleus and cytoplasm is.

My last school was Papakura Normal School and I promised to myself that I'd make good goals and new friends.

My goals last year for this year was to try and make new friends, and get myself comfortable in High school. Because back then I was pretty scared and didn't really want to go.
But now I feel like those goals have been accomplished and now I feel comfortable here with my new friends!

My goals for this year is maybe get more involved in whatever i can do, and have lots of fun. I want to learn more here then what i did in intermediate. I also want to make myself known throughout the school as a talented and unique person.

I have alot of goals but I'm going to do my best to accomplish them. Anyways, I am done.

Have a nice day!
